Earlier in the year, I was asked to submit a water- colour painting to an open exhibition in London, and chose to paint a particularly characterful neighbour.

Thus inspired, I went on to paint a set of portraits capturing the people living in the small community of Mount, near Bodmin, in Cornwall.

In doing these portraits, I thought to immortalise and pay tribute to the people in my rural community that help to shape the pastoral scene.

Completing the Picture

Following the successful exhibition of these paintings and the media interest they created, Annie Ovenden researched the lives of the ten people and interviewed them all. This led to the publication of Completing the Picture, a book about the ten villagers, their memories and thoughts about village life. Full details below:
